Dogs  |   Training  |   Racing

Training competitive sleddogs is a year round task, always work to be done and not enough time to do it. They are not like a pair of skis which collect dust in the summer or a bike stored in the loft over winter. This is a 24/7 job.
We are based in an area which I believe to be the best location in the UK, with some of the most extensive training trail systems available on our doorstep.
We have exclusive access to trails which allow us the freedom and flexibility to train our dogs to the highest level.
Summer training consists of river and lake swimming and general exercise running the dogs free across local fields and moors.
It's a time for recharging the batteries and breeding new pups before the coming season.
Full training starts as soon as the temperature is cool enough, usually early september with aim of reaching full competitive fitness by late autumn.
An ATV/4 wheeler is our most valued piece of equipment as it allows us to train large teams in complete safety. This is a priority for us, the dogs and other forest users whilst we train the dogs in harness.
Our feeding strategy is quite simple, more work requires more fuel and calories. A high protein dry 'kibble' feed is mixed with fresh meat and salmon, with plenty of clean fresh water.
Our use of Bjorkis, Eukanuba and Pioneer Foods products ensures a suitable diet is maintained for the dogs year round.
Fyra Ess products are used in the racing season to ease the working stresses on the dogs during the intensive racing period of the year.
